2.3.9.1.3  Edit body

A body can be edited on the page Bodies in the dialog window Create new system/System properties and by using the mouse. These are described in this section.

2.3.9.1.3.1  Change body parameters by using the dialog window

On the page Bodies in the dialog window Create new system/System properties, bodies can be created, changed, deleted or their priorities can be changed.

Controls on the page Bodies are contained in Table 9 and shown in Figure 15 with illustrative data:

Figure 15. The page Bodies of the dialog window Create new system/System parameter

In this window, data of five bodies are shown simultaneously. The third, central line refers to the body selected, on which changes can be made.

2.3.9.1.3.1.1  Change body priority

By using the spin control, you can change body priorities among each other, which determines the order of Display for bodies on the screen. Bodies of higher priority will appear later, so they may cover those of lower priority. Body priorities may also be changed by using the mouse, which is described in the section Change body priority by using the mouse.

2.3.9.1.3.1.2  Current priority

The priority of current body that is the one just edited, appearing in the central line of the window.

2.3.9.1.3.1.3  Number of bodies

It refers to the number of bodies.

2.3.9.1.3.1.4  Body name

The name of the body is a string of maximum 32 characters long. It shall not be individual but is compulsory to fill in.

2.3.9.1.3.1.5  Body mass

Body mass is a number of double type, cannot be zero or less. Its unit is read in the header.

2.3.9.1.3.1.6  Body diameter

Body diameter is a number of double type, cannot be zero or less. Its unit reads in the header.

2.3.9.1.3.1.7  Body position vector

The x and y components of the body position vector are numbers of double type. The vector unit reads in the header in brackets.

2.3.9.1.3.1.8  Body velocity vector

The x and y components of the body velocity vector are numbers of double type. The vector unit reads in the header in brackets.

2.3.9.1.3.1.9  Body color

It's the color of a body. It is an RGB value.

2.3.9.1.3.1.10  Body selection

A body may be in the state selected or non-selected. Selected bodies are visible in the color of selection (see Background, selection and information color) and certain operations may be executed on them, for instance delete. In Edit state, above a selected body, the text of the Mouse pointer is underlined.

See further the section Edit selected body by using the mouse.

2.3.9.1.3.1.11  Body hold

A body may be holded, what means, in Simulation state this hold its position and velocity vectors (see Body position and velocity vectors), so they don’t move according to the coordinate system.

In Edit state above a holded body, the text of the Mouse pointer is underlined.

2.3.9.1.3.1.12  Body groups

It is a list box to adjust body groups, containing all the 16 names. Any one body belongs to many groups.

2.3.9.1.3.1.13  Select current body

By using the scrollbar, you can update a body, allowing changing its parameters.

2.3.9.1.3.1.14  Add new body to list end

Appearing at the end of list, there is a new body, whose name is to define in the dialog window Default properties. This name consists of a star (*) the program substitute with a number increasing automatically, so each new body will have a new name. Vector components will appear with 0 in value, mass and diameter with 1 in value, color with that of the selection (see Background, selection and information color), group with the first one. The number of bodies will increase by one and the new body will be actually.

2.3.9.1.3.1.15  Insert new body before current body

Appearing before the current body, there is a new body, whose name is to define in the dialog window Default properties.

2.3.9.1.3.1.16  Delete current body
