3.1.4  Properties of body selected

By the mouse and the dialog window Properties of body selected, you can change parameters of the bodies selected (see Selection). By the menu item Selected menu/Left panel/Selected..., the dialog window will appear.

The dialog window will change the parameters of selected bodies by setting the values of other bodies as linearly or randomly distributed between the values of the two bodies of extreme priority that is the first and last one in the order of priority. The values of the two bodies of extreme priority (backward and forward) will be the ones given, and those between them will have values linearly or randomly distributed between that two.

For example, let’s select 5 bodies from among a lot. On of them has the lowest ordinal (backward), and another has the highest ordinal (forward). Their mass shall be 12 and 20 kilograms, then the mass of the 5 bodies selected will be 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 kilograms one after the other, in case of linear distdibution.

The dialog window is divided into two sectors: From (backward), and To (forward). Next to any parameter value, there is a check box the program will take into account on processing, if switched on.

If you don’t want to change mass, then in the From sector, the check box next to the mass shall be switched off.

If you want to set the same mass for all the bodies selected, then in the From section, the check box next to the mass shall be switched on, but in the section To shall be switched off.

And if you want to set the mass of all the bodies selected between the two extreme values, then both in the section From and To, the check box next to the mass shall be switched on.

In the Multiplicators part, the values of the velocity vectors, masses and diameters can be multiply with the same numbers.

Controls of the dialog window Properties of body selected are contained in Table 19 and shown in Figure 19 with illustrative data:

No Control
1 Name of the body selected
2 Position vector of body selected
3 Velocity vector of body selected
4 Mass of body selected
5 Diameter of body selected
6 Color of body selected
7 Multiplication of the selected bodies parameters
8 Random distribution of body selected
9 Name of body selected
10 Holding of body selected

3.1.4.1  Name of the body selected

This edit control cannot be overwritten. It shows just the names of the bodies of extreme priority. You can change the name of bodies selected by the section Name of body selected.

3.1.4.2  Position vector of body selected

They are edit controls and check boxes to change the position vectors of the bodies selected. Three cases of marking may be:

3.1.4.3  Velocity vector of body selected

They are edit controls and check boxes to change velocity vectors of the bodies selected. Three cases of marking may be:

3.1.4.4  Mass of body selected

They are edit controls and check boxes to change mass of the bodies selected. Three cases of marking may be:

3.1.4.5  Diameter of body selected

They are edit controls and check boxes to change diameters of the bodies selected. Three cases of marking may be:

3.1.4.6  Color of body selected

They are push buttons and check boxes to change color of the bodies selected. Three cases of marking may be:

3.1.4.7  Multiplication of the selected bodies parameters

The velocity vector, mass and diameter of the selected bodies can be change with the same value.

3.1.4.8  Random distribution of body selected

These are check boxes to choose distribution between linear and random.

3.1.4.9  Name of body selected

It is an edit control and a check box to change name of the bodies selected. Each name contains a star character (*), the program will substitute with an increasing number for each body selected to have a new name. The field Start determines the initial value of this number. The base value of the name is Sel-*, you can set in the dialog window Default properties.

3.1.4.10  Holding of body selected

The Hold of the body selected can switch on/off uniformly.

See further the section Body holding.

3.1.4.11  Groups of body selected

It is a list box and a check box to change groups of the bodies selected. The list box contains the name of all the 16 groups. One or more groups may selectable. The bodies selected will belong to the same groups.
